Trailers Galore - Godzilla, MIB & Gemini Man
As the entire world (yes the world) prepares to go watch Avengers:
Endgame (I’m seeing it on Friday), this week saw a trailers drop for some other
high-profile films coming out in 2019. Trailers for Godzilla: King of the
Monsters, Men in Black: International, and Gemini Man all dropped this week,
with all being unique and impressive in their own ways.
Godzilla: King of the Monsters
So there are just the 17 monsters (or “Titans”) in this film…HOLY SH*T! The trailers for this film have all been outstanding (the comic-con trailer they released last year is still my favourite). Just like the previous trailers, this one gave us just that little extra in terms of plot and action sequences. The battle between Godzilla and King Ghidorah looks immense, and those extra shots of their fight are awesome. We know that these “Titans” are awakening (but do not know why), and that the characters believe the only way to save the planet is to unleash Godzilla…because he’s on our side right? If you want to see these monsters have it out, it looks like you won’t be disappointed.
Men in Black: International
When I saw the first trailer, I was straight on board with this film. Having not seen any previous Men in Black films (I know, sorry), this is my first introduction to the franchise, and this new trailer has just upped my excitement. Now I still think the first trailer is better, with better action and comedic moments, but this new trailer is really good. We get to know some backstory for Tessa Thompson’s character, and that she wants to become an agent having witnessed the MIB as a kid. She’s sent on assignment to London (hence “International”) with the loveable Chris Hemsworth (his comedic acting is brilliant). With lots of cool action scenes, jokes and weapons shown thereafter, I can’t believe I’m actually looking forward to seeing this film. A good trailer overall (especially for a first time MIB person).

There are great moments in each trailer (Godzilla is of
course my favourite), and part of me feels bad that they will go unnoticed with
all the hype surrounding Endgame…then again the marketing teams knew that would
be the case (dammit). Anyway, let’s get to these trailers one by one...

Gemini Man
This one was intriguing. I hadn’t heard of this film before,
so I saw the trailer with an open mind. It sets itself up as a spy/action
thriller, but as it goes on you get the sense the action will be met by equal
emotion. Will Smith plays an assassin, and someone is trying to kill him…himself!
He was cloned 25 years previously and a younger version of himself is sent to
kill him. Why HE has been sent to kill his future self, and why the people in the
background want him killed is still a mystery…all I’ll say is I’m looking forward
to the next trailer (which I’m hoping will sell this film to me). The music in
this trailer by the way was perfect!
