STAR Holds The Final Key Disney+ To Domination

Since its launch in November 2019, Disney+ has amassed over 80 million subscribers worldwide, a feat no one would have expected when the service launched. But even with all its success, there were still many people (myself included) who were hesitant, or didn't see the worth in subscribing to Disney+. The main reason being was that there wasn't a wide enough variety of content on the platform, a sense that "its all the same" and "there's only so many Disney films I can watch".

BUT, this is where things are going to change! Disney are finally rolling out their STAR section on Disney+ in the UK (and many other markets) on 23rd February. In Disney's own words, its "OUR BIGGEST CONTENT DROP EVER"...

There'd been lots of speculation as to how Disney were going to integrate all of the Fox content they had acquired, and it was announced last year they would be taking the "Star" brand they'd acquired, and putting all their mature content under this tile on Disney+.

Now we have a concrete look at what level of content is coming to Disney+ in February, it's simply OUTSTANDING. No one can say now that Disney+ does not have enough variety because they will have that spades. From popular films like Pretty Women and Planet of the Apes, to hit TV shows such as How I Met Your Mother, Grey's Anatomy, 24, and so much more, there is truly something for everyone on the service.

Some of my highlights include:
  • Deadpool 2
  • Buffy the Vampire Slayer
  • Scream
  • The Devil Wears Prada
  • Desperate Housewives
  • Scrubs
  • And my personal favourite...FAMILY GUY

YES - FAMILY GUY WILL BE ON DISNEY+ 😁

I really believe integrating STAR (and all the content that comes with it) into the service is the final key for Disney+ to really dominate the streaming market. The power of the Disney brand, coupled with the variety of content STAR will introduce, there are very few reason for people not to sign up for Disney+ now. Even I'm planning to sign up to the service very soon, as I'm sure many other are too.

Disney+ will dominate 2021, the only question that remains now is whether anyone can really compete with their offering. Disney have a new STAR...it's time for Netflix and co to find theirs.
